from a new studio
I bring my book Portraits, Talking with Artists, with me in the day. It is rich in inspiration. Michael Kimmelman, who was the chief art critic of the NY Times asks various artists to discuss favorite artworks in museums. He says Cezanne said, “ the Louvre is the book from which we learn to read.” (yes).
I note that only Lucien Freud’s children and lawyer are said to have his phone number. Wouldn’t that be nice.
Balthus loved Bonnard and Vuillard, as I do.
I write down in the notes I take, reading this in the Honda dealership waiting room—This book has all the answers.
